Definition of Counseling Psychology

The Society of Counseling Pyschology's defintion of Counseling Pyscholgy: Counseling Psychology is a specialty within professional psychology that maintains a focus on facilitating personal and interpersonal functioning across the life span.  The specialty  pays particular attention to emotional, social, vocational, educational, health-related, developmental, and organizational concerns.

APA's  ( American Psychological Association) defnition of psychology.

  Psychology is a diverse discipline, grounded in science, but with nearly boundless applications in everyday life.  Some psychologists do basic research, developing theories and testing them through carefully honed research methods involving observation, experimentation and analysis. Other psychologists apply the discipline’s scientific knowledge to help people, organizations and communities function better.
