This guide provides an overview of the library's webpage, services, research tips and contact information for librarians.

For Beginners

1. Go to https://www.cookman.edu/academics/library/index.html where you will land on the library's webpage

2. Choose Remote Access (right column, 5th block)

Use the onscreen instructions for STUDENTS to log in.

STUDENTS PLEASE READ

  • You will need to add COOKMAN\before your username.
  • If your email is jane.d.doe@students.cookman.edu, your username will be COOKMAN\jane.d.doe
  • Your password will be your domain computer (network) password. New students can find this password in their email or in WildCatWeb. If you are unable to find your password, please try 00 followed by your student ID. If your student ID is 123456, your password will be: 00123456 or 123456

Once completed, you will be brought back to the library's screen.

3. Use keywords to begin your search in the library's catalog which is the box at the top.

Try the following:
mental health AND bullying (be sure to capitalize AND)
impact of bullying on mental health
impact of bullying AND mental health

Your results will appear as below. To limit your results, you can select "Peer Reviewed" under Content Type, Publication Year, and format (books, articles, or "show more" for additional formats).

4. If you do not locate the required number of documents there, try our databases by clicking on Search Databases (left column, third block).

5. I would try EBSCO first. To get there, select E, then EBSCO Host Research Databases (third entry). Here are links to tutorials for using EBSCO.

6. Click on EBSCOhost Research Database.

7.  Should this screen appear, click Advanced.

8. Should this screen appear, click Proceed to web.... at very bottom.

9. Click on Select/deselect all to select all of the databases within EBSCO. Then select Continue.

10. You will then see EBSCO's interface. Enter your keywords like before in the box and enter Search.

11. Enter your search terms: bullying AND mental health.  You can limit your search by Full Text, Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals, Publication Date, Source Types, Publisher, Languages, etc.
