The mission of the BCU Archives is to, “collect, organize, and preserve significant college and community information”. This will be achieved by way of maintaining the documentation of the history of the Institution in accordance with accepted archival principles. Additionally, the BCU Archives is a repository for African American history and culture in the state of Florida. As such, it collects and maintains historical records relating to the legacy of African Americans.
The BCU Archives collects archival material, including: organizational, institutional, personal records, printed documents, correspondence, diaries, maps, photographs, graphic material, audiovisual media, scores, recording, and other material that document personal, business, and or organizational history and have enduring research value. Any material acquired by the BCU Archives must relate to the history of the institution or the local community, particularly the African American, community in a significant way.
