This research project was funded with funds from The HathiTrust Research Center’s Advanced Collaborative Support program and Scholar-Curated Worksets for Analysis, Reuse & Dissemination (SCWARD) project with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Scholars, Dr. Clarissa West-White - Bethune Cookman University (BCU) and Dr. Seretha Williams - Augusta University, work with three BCU students, Ianna Kizer, Lauren Albury, and Tierany Dickey, and researchers from SCWARD to accomplish a number of objectives: 1) Application of curated vocabulary to the Mary McLeod Bethune collection, 2) Workset and keyword vocabularies to share with researchers, 3) Identification of Black Fantastic texts in HathiTrust, 4) Defining “Black Fantastic” and 5) Mapping Mary.
