Free Citation Software

Citation software is very helpful in managing your citations. While they will autogenerate a citation based on your brief input, such as entering an ISBN or DOI number, they are usually not 100% accurate.

Always check your entries against the style manual.

  • The Purdue Online Writing Lab has produced an number of helpful, brief guides. for APA ,MLA , AMA and other style  manuals.
  • Also check out B-CU's Citations Research Guide.
  • Additionally most journal databases have the option to include the citation when you print or email the article. While you still need to check it against your style manual, it can be a timesaver to obtain the citiation information at the same time you first accessed the article.

Also, refer to the Writing and Tutoring Help resources in this guide- they can help you with your citation questions.
