Brief Biographical Sketch

Dr. Angelo J. Salvo is Swisher’s Technical Services Librarian; he manages Interlibrary Loan services, maintains the library Reserve Collection, and provides help with reference or instructional questions when needed.  Dr. Salvo began working at Bethune-Cookman University in August of 2003 as Circulation Librarian until June 2006. Due to coursework in archival science, he became the University Archivist and held this position until June 2013. In 2013, he became the Interlibrary Loan Librarian/Instructor. He also assists the acquisition and cataloguing librarians, and holds the position of Secretary within Faculty Senate.
Although born in New York City, he received most of his elementary, middle, and high school education in Connecticut.
In his spare time, Dr. Salvo enjoys jogging, reading (poetry and nonfiction), swimming, and music.  “The aspects of my work that I enjoy most are searching through websites or the library databases for particular articles for Interlibrary Loan requests.  My job involves sending out requests for books and articles from other libraries, and I also lend books to other libraries.  I enjoy communicating with Interlibrary Loan employees from other libraries because it allows me to network... It is important that Bethune-Cookman University’s library achieves a good profile with other libraries throughout the nation.  I also enjoy providing assistance to patrons with research or assignments that involve looking for journal articles.  When I assist patrons with reference requests, I come to know more about the content and scope of the various library databases.  I am intrigued by the number and variety of databases that the library now holds.”
