Brief Biographical Sketch

Dr. Mu-Tor K. Flood has a PhD in Industrial-Organizational psychology. He is currently an Assistant professor at Bethune-Cookman University. Dr. Flood is the school advisor for the Association of Black Psychologists at Bethune-Cookman University. He teaches courses on African/Black psychology, research methods, statistics and psychological measurements. He started and heads the Sankofa Psychology Research Lab at BCU. He has won two awards as an Assistant professor of Psychology at Bethune-Cookman university. The first award is the 2023 award for Excellence in Teaching. The second award is the 2023 award for outstanding service and engagement.

He is currently working on several psychology textbooks on African-centered psychology and African-centered Industrial-Organizational psychology. He co-wrote and produced a documentary called Dads and Breastfeeding: The Official Guide for New Fathers. The documentary has helped to increase breastfeeding rates nationally. It also has specifically helped the African American community, which has the lowest levels of breastfeeding rates. He also co-founded an African American debate league called The Great Debate League. This league helps to introduce new debaters to the world of debating on topics that are important to the African American community. He co-founded and currently sits on the board of directors for Citizens for a Sustainable Future Inc. This is a non-profit action-oriented think tank. The organization champions the causes of sustainable development and environmental justice for future generations of African Americans.

Dr. Flood also worked on the inaugural Community Healing Days event which occurs annually in Tallahassee, Florida. This event promotes healing in the African American community and beyond. He also provides his expertise on important issues in psychology on news and radio outlets such as 90.1 FM KKFI. Dr. Flood does pro bono organizational consulting work for businesses using his skills as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist.
