Mr. Kedrick Redding, a native of Orlando, Florida, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Bethune-Cookman University, where he was a member and student leader of the World-Renowned Marching Wildcats. He earned his Master's Degree in Music with a concentration in Conducting from the University of Central Florida and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Music Education from the University of Houston.
In 2006, Mr. Redding began his teaching career as the first Music teacher at Sand Lake Elementary. In 2007, he became the Band Director at Carver Middle School, where he grew the program from just seven advanced students to an average of 120, receiving numerous superior and excellent ratings at performance assessments. He also served as Assistant Director of Bands at Jones High School from 2006 to 2014.
In 2014, Mr. Redding moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to lead the band program at Charles Drew High School, where he established the jazz band and chamber ensembles, and continued the symphonic band's tradition of superior ratings. In 2015, he became Director of Bands at Edward Waters College, where he expanded both the band membership and instrumental music curriculum, establishing concert, jazz, and chamber ensembles.
In 2020, Mr. Redding became the Assistant Band Director of the marching band at Texas Southern University. In addition, he is the Director of the Wind Ensemble, serves as the Music Department's Instrumental Coordinator, and is the Chapter Advisor for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Inc., and Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority, Inc. His teaching duties at TSU include Conducting, Music Technology, Brass Methods, Fine Arts and Daily Living, Music Theory I & II, Ear Training I & II, and Applied Trombone. Mr. Redding also serves as the TBME (Texas Black Music Educators) collegiate coordinator and the Houston chapter coordinator for TBME. In 2024, Mr. Redding returned to Florida to begin his employment at Bethune-Cookman University. His duties include teaching Basic Conducting, Introduction to Music Education, Music Methods in Secondary Education, Music Methods in Elementary Education, Assessment & Evaluations, and Senior Seminar. Mr. Redding is a member of the Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Fraternity of America, Inc., Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
