Sylvester T. Polk

Brief Biographical Sketch

Mr. Sylvester Polk, a faculty member, serves as Professor of Practice for Music Technology at Bethune-Cookman University teaching music performance and production courses. He is also the Co-Owner of Polkbros Productions and has over 37 years of experience in the music industry working as a professional musician, studio engineer, FOH engineer, producer, audio technician, performer, arranger, composer, songwriter, programmer, midi sequencer, audio and editor, vocalist etc. as well as R&D with developer, Alpha, Beta and field testing for Avid to Waves and a host of others.
Mr. Polk has worked with nationally and internationally acclaimed artists such as James Taylor, Lucky Peterson, Jody Watley, Luther Vandross, Natalie Cole, Teddy Pendergrass, Charlie Daniels, Clifton Davis and Marvin Gaye in recording studios, on the concert stage, and in pre and post production facilities. His corporate experience includes entities such as Walt Disney Corp., General Motors, CBS Music, Casablanca Records, Norwegian Cruise Lines, SeaWorld, Sony Music, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Universal Studios Florida, Wells Fargo Bank, and Anheuser Busch.
Mr. Polk holds a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Florida A&M University.
